By the conclusion of the month, many streaming services find themselves lacking in new films. However, Peacock has successfully avoided this predicament as November approaches.
Although Peacock will not gain access to Wicked: For Good until 2026, there is a newly released musical that can serve as a substitute for viewers this week.
This musical is one of the selections from Watch With Us, highlighting three exceptional movies available on Peacock for binge-watching this weekend. The other recommendations include an overlooked thriller and a sci-fi comedy blockbuster.
‘Inside’ (2023)
Willem Dafoe delivers a captivating performance as Nemo in Inside, where he is predominantly the sole actor on screen. Nemo is a skilled art thief who meticulously plans to infiltrate the high-rise penthouse of a wealthy collector to steal his most prized paintings.
However, a critical error leaves him trapped in the apartment with limited food and water. While he has successfully acquired the artwork, he faces a dire situation that threatens his health and sanity. If he cannot devise a plan quickly, this penthouse may become his final resting place.
Inside is available for streaming on Peacock.
‘Les Misérables’ (2012)
To find a live-action musical that rivals the anticipated Wicked: For Good, one must look back to the Christmas release of Les Misérables 13 years ago. Adapting Victor Hugo‘s novel and the Broadway musical posed significant challenges for director Tom Hooper, yet the results are impressive. Hugh Jackman stars as Jean Valjean, a man haunted for years by Javert (Russell Crowe), a French officer convinced of Valjean’s criminality.
Set in 19th-century France, Valjean’s life is continually disrupted as Javert closes in on his true identity. Valjean also takes it upon himself to assist a desperate woman, Fantine (Anne Hathaway, who delivers an Oscar-winning performance), and raises her daughter, Cosette (Amanda Seyfried), as his own. Amidst a revolutionary backdrop, Valjean struggles to protect Cosette and her love interest, Marius Pontmercy (Eddie Redmayne).
Les Misérables is available for streaming on Peacock.
‘Men in Black’ (1997)
The original Men in Black is executed so well and is so humorous that it is unfortunate that the subsequent sequels have led to a decline in the franchise’s popularity among both Sony and Marvel. Few were familiar with the independent comic books that inspired the film, but Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith elevated this movie into a massive hit.
Smith portrays James Darrell Edwards III, a unique and talented police officer who discovers the existence of extraterrestrials. Impressed by James, Agent K recruits him into the Men in Black, an organization tasked with protecting Earth from alien threats. James abandons his previous life to become Agent J, and together with K, they face a potential world-ending crisis. Medical examiner Laurel Weaver (Linda Fiorentino) is also on the verge of uncovering the truth about aliens but may not survive long enough to reveal it after encountering Edgar (Vincent D’Onofrio), an alien insect disguised as a human.
Men in Black is available for streaming on Peacock.
