Jessie Buckley attended the New York screening of Hamnet at the Whitby Hotel on Friday, marking another step in her stylistic reset ahead of awards season.
As we all know, the Irish actress has changed stylists and shifted her image into a more restrained, “serious contender” mode — a move we’ve seen many actors make when the campaign trail begins. I was fully on board with this evolution. You know I adored her Valentino at the LA premiere. It struck the right balance.
But this Kallmeyer Spring 2026 look? I’m struggling.
There is an elegance here — the creamy, sculptural top wrapping softly around her shoulders, the relaxed black trousers, the unfussy hair. Nothing is technically wrong. It’s more that the look seems to quieten Jessie that much further. The very thing that makes her such a compelling dresser — the wit, the quirk, the little bite of unpredictability — is nowhere to be found.
I want to blame the draped scarf detail, because it feels like the piece doing the ageing here, but without it the outfit would veer into something forgettable. The runway’s additional printed scarf may have offered a touch of personality, which is precisely what this edit is missing.
This new chapter doesn’t need to be loud, but it does need balance. Hopefully this is just a slight over-correction, and her team pulls things back to a place where refinement doesn’t come at the expense of character.
Stylist: Danielle Goldberg.
