Chelsea Farrell has shared a heartwarming post on social media after graduating from her nursing degree just 48 hours after giving birth to her daughter, Aliyah.

The former Miss Ireland winner completed her degree in 2024 but was unable to attend the graduation ceremony. She therefore set her sights on attending this year, but had to change her plans when “little miss decided to make her arrival two days prior”, joking that “no way was I walking onto that stage 48 hours after giving birth”.

Chelsea, who represented Louth in the beauty pageant, was crowned Miss Ireland in 2019, beating out 32 other stunning finalists to take the coveted title.

Posing with her new degree from Dundalk IT, the new mum said: “I became a midwife and a mama all in the same week. The two things I always dreamed of.

“While yes I completed my degree last year, I couldn’t attend last years graduation so was set to attend this years, BUT then little miss decided to make her arrival two days prior and no way was I walking onto that stage 48 hours after giving birth.

“So today I officially collected my cert (finally) – a very proud moment. It’s wild because now here I am with my dream job, AND my dream baby girl – two things that a few years ago I thought were so far out of reach. Every delay, every hurdle and every unexpected path has led me right where I need to be – my heart is so full”.

Chelsea has been sharing some gorgeous pictures of herself and her new baby on Instagram over the past few weeks, saying that her “yearly Christmas wish has come true”.

She has also been posting some reassuring and motivational tips for other new mums out there, saying: “To any mamas on here who are navigating a difficult pregnancy, take this as your sign that you will be okay. I wouldn’t change anything about the last 9 months for the world, because without that journey, I wouldn’t have my precious baby girl here safely in my arms.

“I promise you, the minute your baby is placed on your chest – everything you’ve been through to bring you to that moment is so worth it. You will get your sparkle back, you will smile and you will feel the happiest you have ever felt. I promise you it’s worth it, and I promise you you’re going to be just fine.”
