Megadeth’s Busy 2026: New Album and Tour Plans

Megadeth is preparing for a packed 2026. The band, led by Dave Mustaine, is set to release their self-titled final album on January 23. The album will include two previously released singles, “Tipping Point” and “I Don’t Care,” along with a cover of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning,” a song Mustaine co-wrote during his time with the band.

Mustaine recently shared with Rolling Stone, “It wasn’t really that I wanted to do my version. I think that we all wanted it to turn out a certain way, and for me, this was about something so much more than how a song turns out. It was about respect.”

To promote their final album, Megadeth will embark on a global farewell tour. They have already announced headlining dates for 2026 in Canada, Mexico, and South America. Additionally, they will be supporting Iron Maiden during their North American and European legs and will participate in several festivals across Europe.

This is just the beginning of their plans.

“We’re easily talking about touring for another three to five years,” Mustaine stated in a recent interview with Kerrang!. “And if we’re going to be doing it for that long then, shit, I’ll be looking at the birthday I don’t even want to think about!”
