Hilary Farr Addresses Health Rumors Amid AI-Generated Images
Hilary Farr, the 74-year-old star of HGTV, recently took to social media to dispel alarming rumors about her health. These rumors were sparked by AI-generated images that suggested she was suffering from a serious illness.
On Thursday, Farr shared a video on Instagram in response to the “fake beyond words” reports, which falsely claimed she was undergoing cancer treatment. In the video, she presented a screenshot of the misleading claim, stating, “Ta daaa,” while appearing in front of the image using a green screen effect. “I’m alive. Very, very, very much so alive and well, I’m happy to say,” she affirmed.
Farr criticized the AI-generated content, saying, “Look at this thing, really?!” in reference to the doctored images circulating online.
The misleading report included four images of Farr, one depicting her in a hospital gown and wearing an oxygen mask, accompanied by a headline stating, “She might not make it.” The caption read, “The physician caring for Hilary Farr’s cancer has provided a devastating update on her health: ‘She might never be seen on TV in the future.’”
In her video, Farr expressed disbelief at the fabricated nature of the report, stating, “So, look at this thing. Really. It’s so badly done. I hope none of you would really take any of this seriously and realize it is just fake beyond words.”
Farr concluded her message by reassuring her followers, “Well, I’m here to prove that. So, just checking in. All’s good with me, hope all’s good with you.”
Many fans expressed their relief and support in the comments section, with one user writing, “Thank God you are healthy and thank you for setting the record straight!” Another fan noted, “Nice to see you! This AI stuff is getting old and out of hand! So happy you’re addressing it! Enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend.”
Another Instagram user remarked, “I’m so happy you’re good! It would break my heart to hear any of that was true. Rock on Hilary.”
In 2021, Farr disclosed that she had battled breast cancer in secret following her diagnosis in 2014. She has reportedly been in remission since 2022.
