Ruby Kemper’s Debut at Le Bal des Débutantes
Ruby Kemper, daughter of Ross and Linda Kemper, heiress of MGM Studios owner Kirk Kerkorian, recently entered society at the prestigious Le Bal des Débutantes. She shared her experiences with Us Weekly.
Anticipation and Purpose
Kemper, 20, participated in the exclusive event on November 29, a moment she had envisioned since her sister Tess debuted a decade ago.
“Watching my sister at the ball when I was 10 inspired me. Each year, I imagined my own debut,” Kemper said. “The event supports children’s hospitals and ARCFA, focusing on children’s cardiology research, which resonates with me. It’s not just a milestone for me and my family, but also a chance to connect with like-minded individuals globally.”
Family Support and Personal Motivation
Despite her family’s prominence, Kemper felt no pressure to participate. “It was a personal choice,” she explained. “My family’s pride and support mean everything. I aim to uphold our family name and meet the expectations of those watching.”
The Essence of Le Bal
As a student at Cornell University, Kemper noted that Le Bal, revived in 1992 by Ophélie Renouard, differs from traditional debutante balls. “It’s about presenting oneself and celebrating achievements, not about marriage,” she stated.
Sharing the Stage
Kemper joined 18 other debutantes, including Bronwyn Vance, daughter of Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance, Spanish royal Princess Eulalia de Orléans-Borbon, and Lady Araminta Spencer-Churchill.
“Backstage, we bonded over preparations and shared experiences, realizing our commonalities despite diverse backgrounds,” Kemper shared.
Fashion Choices
Kemper collaborated with Richard, Laurie Stark, and their daughter Frankie from Chrome Hearts for a custom dress. “I envisioned a sleek, lacy design with subtle Chrome Hearts elements,” she explained.

Evening Highlights
Escorted by Gabriel Gledhill, a British skier, Kemper described him as “a true gentleman.”
Debutantes were introduced with their cavaliers, followed by photos and a waltz with their fathers. “As the night progressed, we kicked off our shoes and danced,” Kemper recalled.

“We had the best time, with genuine smiles all around,” Kemper concluded.
