The Hunting Wives is set to return for its second season, but will the entire cast be back following changes from the book?
Adapted from May Cobb’s novel, the popular Netflix series features Sophie (Brittany Snow) as she becomes entangled with socialite Margo (Malin Åkerman). Sophie joins Margo’s group of housewives, leading to dangerous secrets and a murder with Sophie as the main suspect.
Alongside Åkerman and Snow, the series stars Katie Lowes, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, Chrissy Metz, Jaime Ray Newman, and George Ferrier. After its debut in July 2025, showrunner Rebecca Cutter and the cast discussed the deviations from the original book.
“Rebecca and May Cobb have a great relationship. They’ve been in discussions, and May was supportive of the changes. She was thrilled to see her characters brought to life and appreciated the direction Rebecca took,” Åkerman told Us Weekly that month. “It’s exciting to have some differences from the book, so fans can still be surprised. Hopefully, it stays close enough to the original story.”
Åkerman added: “I read the scripts before the book, so my perspective might differ. But I believe we capture the essence of the characters and their world. I hope book fans will enjoy it.”
Netflix confirmed the show’s renewal in September 2025, hinting at who will return. Here’s the full cast list:
Brittany Snow

Snow has shared her hopes for Sophie, especially after her character committed murder by the end of season 1.
“That’s something she likely hasn’t confronted within herself. Exploring this in season 2 would be intriguing,” Snow told Collider in July 2025. “I’m curious about her journey. Therapy might be needed.”
Snow expressed interest in how Sophie might resolve her situation, saying, “I love Sophie’s character arc. By episode 8, she’s back to where she started, a full circle of self-discovery, yet still a mess.”
Malin Åkerman

Season 2 begins with Sophie and Margo “on the outs.”
“Old secrets and new threats soon reunite them,” the synopsis reveals. “As they engage in dangerous games, the question arises: Are they hunters or the hunted?”
Jaime Ray Newman

Newman returns as Callie, who was revealed to have killed Jill (Lowes), who in turn killed Starr (Metz).
Dermot Mulroney

The Hunting Wives wouldn’t be the same without Mulroney’s character, Jed Banks, stirring trouble as he runs for office.
Evan Jonigkeit
Despite Sophie’s marriage ending, her estranged husband Graham returns in season 2.
George Ferrier

Ferrier returns as Brad, involved in a secret affair with Margo. The show aged him up from the book.
Åkerman explained the decision to age Brad up, noting, “He’s technically of age, but very young. The controversy lies in him being her best friend’s son.”
Chrissy Metz

After Starr’s death, her return could only occur through flashbacks.
Katie Lowes

Lowes knew her character Jill wouldn’t return, saying, “I knew Jill would die, so I embraced it.”
She added, “Knowing Margo would be the killer, I focused on the series to avoid confusion.”
Michael Aaron Milligan

Sophie killed Margo’s brother, Kyle, at season one’s end — or did she?
“I’m grateful for the experience and would love to return, maybe as Kyle’s ghost,” Milligan joked to Us in August 2025. “I’m eager to see what they have planned.”
John Stamos
The Full House alum joins the cast in season 2.
Cam Gigandet
Netflix confirmed the Twilight actor’s appearance in season 2.
Dale Dickey
Dickey will also feature in the upcoming season.
