Wax Figure of Donald Trump Removed Due to Vandalism
Donald Trump has often been a figure of both admiration and controversy. This duality was strikingly evident when a wax figure of him at Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks in San Antonio, Texas, had to be removed after repeated damage from visitors.
Vandalized Wax Figure
A video shared by a visitor highlighted the life-sized Trump wax figure, which was eventually taken out of public view in 2021. The figure suffered significant damage as guests frequently struck and scratched it, according to the Houston Chronicle. Attempts to repair the damage were futile, leading to its removal and storage.
Public Reactions
The removal of the figure sparked discussions on social media, with many users sharing humorous takes. Some suggested charging visitors for the opportunity to strike the figure, while others commented on its lack of resemblance to Trump.
Ripley Entertainment, the museum’s operator, noted that presidential figures often receive strong reactions. Suzanne Smagala-Potts, a spokesperson, explained that while other figures, including those of Obama and Bush, also faced minor incidents, the Trump figure experienced an unusual level of aggression.
Return to Display
After repairs, the figure was returned to the museum’s presidential gallery. Smagala-Potts emphasized that the decision was routine, as Ripley’s creates figures of all sitting presidents.
The wax figure’s tumultuous history reflects broader public sentiments toward Trump, often fueled by his actions and statements perceived as out of touch with everyday concerns.
Despite its return, visitors continue to comment on the figure’s likeness, or lack thereof, to the former president.
