SAMMY HAGAR On His Las Vegas Residency: ‘It’s A Dream Come True For An Elderly Rock Star That Still Wants To Perform’

On December 6, 2025, Sammy Hagar, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, appeared on CNN’s “The Story Is With Elex Michaelson” to discuss the return of his “The Best Of All Worlds” residency at Dolby Live, Park MGM. The residency will feature 11 shows from March 11-21, 2026, and September 18-26, 2026. Hagar will reunite with the “Best Of All Worlds” band, including fellow Hall of Fame member and original VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony, 15-time Grammy nominee Joe Satriani, drummer Kenny Aronoff, and multi-instrumentalist Rai Thistlethwayte.

Hagar, who turned 78 in October, expressed his enthusiasm for the residency, stating: “It’s a dream come true for an older rock star who still wants to perform. Touring can be exhausting with all the travel and logistics, but with a residency, you get a good night’s sleep, excellent accommodations, and great food. It extends my touring life. Otherwise, I might not undertake a major tour again.”

During past tours, Hagar contributed thousands of dollars to local food banks in each city he visited, witnessing their positive impact firsthand.

Hagar shared his personal connection to food banks: “My father was an alcoholic and abusive, and we often had to leave, essentially being homeless. My mom raised four kids alone, and food banks were crucial for us, especially during holidays. A dollar can feed several families, making it my favorite way to give back.”

In 2007, Hagar sold 80% of his Cabo Wabo Tequila business to Gruppo Campari for $80 million. He and his wife then established The Hagar Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that quickly channels funds to those in need. Hagar’s business ventures, including Caba Wabo Cantina and Sammy’s Beach Bar and Grill, support the foundation’s efforts.

Hagar explained his motivation: “Whenever I open a new restaurant, people ask why I need more money. It’s not about personal gain; it’s about creating jobs and giving back. I aim to support food banks and children’s hospitals. We give a lot and it feels rewarding.”

In October, Hagar released “Sammy Hagar & The Best Of All Worlds Band – The Residency,” a 19-track live album from his first Dolby Live run, through Big Machine Rock.

“The Best Of All Worlds” Las Vegas Residency Dates:

March 2026: 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21

September 2026: 18, 19, 23, 25, 26

For over four decades, Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar has been a prolific force in rock music. From his start with MONTROSE to a successful solo career and leading VAN HALEN, CHICKENFOOT, THE CIRCLE, and now “The Best Of All Worlds” band, Hagar has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, with hits like “I Can’t Drive 55,” “Right Now,” and “Why Can’t This Be Love.” His “Best Of All Worlds” tour was one of 2024-2025’s top-grossing rock events, leading to a successful Las Vegas residency and live album.

Beyond music, Hagar is a pioneer in the spirits industry, founding Cabo Wabo Tequila and leading brands like Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, Santo Spirits, and Red Rocker Brewing Co. His restaurant ventures include locations in Honolulu, Maui, Las Vegas, Cleveland, and Charlotte, as well as Cabo Wabo Cantinas and the Cabo Wabo Beach Club.

Hagar is a New York Times bestselling author, TV and radio host, and philanthropist. His accolades include a Grammy Award (1992), Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction (2007), Honorary Ambassador to Los Cabos (2022), and a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame (2024).
