Jimmy Kimmel Breaks Down Trump's 'Liar Side Chat,' Senate Hearing About FCC Targeting His Show

Jimmy Kimmel Highlights Trump’s New White House Plaques

President Donald Trump took center stage on primetime TV Wednesday night, showcasing his administration’s accomplishments. The speech, reported by CBS News, drew mixed reactions and was satirized on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The late-night host critiqued Trump’s recent televised address and the newly unveiled presidential plaques at the White House, offering surprising commentary.

Kimmel commented on Trump interrupting the finales of Survivor and The Floor for his speech, which lacked new announcements, expressing astonishment at the situation.

“It’s odd to think that if a few states had voted differently, he’d be hosting one of those shows,” Kimmel joked. “Trump shouldn’t be interrupting The Floor, he should be cleaning it.”

Kimmel then focused on the new plaques in Trump’s “Presidential Walk of Fame,” reading descriptions of past presidents. He noted a quote from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claiming Trump wrote some of them, quipping, “Who else would write that?”

He assured the audience, “These are real. We didn’t alter these; this is what our president is doing.”

The controversial plaques include Trump’s criticisms of past presidents and self-praise. In place of President Joe Biden’s portrait, Trump displayed a photo of his signature and an “autopen.”

“Sleepy Joe Biden was, by far, the worst President in American History,” Kimmel read. The plaque continued with claims of Biden’s presidency leading to national disasters, ending with, “President Trump would get Re-Elected in a Landslide, and SAVE AMERICA!”

Reading Obama’s plaque, Kimmel noted: “Barack Hussein Obama was the first Black President… As President, he passed the highly ineffective ‘Unaffordable’ Care Act.”

“He presided over a stagnant Economy,” Kimmel continued, mentioning terminated deals by Trump and alleged scandals during Obama’s tenure.

Obama’s plaque concluded with, “His handpicked successor, Hillary Rodham Clinton, would then lose the Presidency to Donald J. Trump.”

Clinton’s plaque noted his achievements and scandals, concluding with, “In 2016, President Clinton’s wife, Hillary, lost the Presidency to Donald J. Trump!”

Kimmel remarked on the self-praise in the plaques, including one for Ronald Reagan: “He was a fan of President Donald J. Trump long before Trump’s Historic run for the White House.”

Kimmel questioned this claim, noting Reagan’s death in 2004 and Alzheimer’s diagnosis a decade earlier, joking about Trump’s Pizza Hut commercials.

“What a sad individual,” Kimmel mused, describing Trump’s need for validation through these plaques, calling it a “special kind of lunatic” to cast insults in bronze.

Kimmel concluded with a plea: “Can we please put this man in a home before he completely destroys the one he’s in now?”

He then addressed “FCC chairman Brendan Carr,” criticized for actions leading to Kimmel’s temporary removal from the air.

“During the hearing, Democrats questioned his attacks on free speech,” Kimmel said, noting Senator Ted Cruz was the only Republican to defend free speech.

Referring to Senator Andy Kim’s questions, Cruz stated, “My answer to that is unequivocally no.”

“Ted was the only Republican to express that thought,” Kimmel noted, adding Cruz’s criticism of Kimmel as “angry, overtly partisan, and profoundly unfunny.”

Kimmel lamented the hearing’s lack of impact, stating, “No one was held accountable, and your freedom of speech is only guaranteed depending on what you have to say.”
