A$AP Rocky named as new brand ambassador for Chanel

A$AP Rocky has been officially announced as the newest brand ambassador for the prestigious French fashion house Chanel.

The rapper has been recognized for his “talent, curiosity, and limitless creativity,” aligning perfectly with Chanel’s vision, according to a statement released online yesterday, November 29.

Matthieu Blazy, Chanel’s artistic director, remarked, “Rocky is an extraordinary artist who invests his heart and soul into every endeavor he undertakes, all while being a remarkable individual.”

He added, “As a musician, actor, father, and friend, he contributes immensely and consistently approaches his work with kindness. We are excited to welcome him to Chanel, and I look forward to collaborating once more.”

To mark this announcement, a specially commissioned short film directed by Michel Gondry, known for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, has been released. The film features Rocky alongside Margaret Qualley, a star of The Substance. The film can be viewed below.

Reflecting on his new role, Rocky stated, “Matthieu’s vision is advancing the fashion industry. His designs strike a balance between sensitivity and strength; they are rooted in reality while also inviting curiosity. I am eager to see his work at Chanel.”

This year has been eventful for Rocky. In February, he was acquitted by a jury in Los Angeles after being tried for allegedly shooting at his former friend A$AP Relli in Hollywood in 2021. He had been facing a potential 24-year prison sentence after declining a plea deal that would have resulted in 180 days of incarceration.

In September, Rocky and Rihanna welcomed their third child, Rocki Irish Mayers, who was born on September 13. Rihanna had announced her pregnancy during a stylish late arrival at the Met Gala in May.

Additionally, Rocky headlined at Rolling Loud California in March, where he performed a selection of new songs from a helicopter. Last month, he made a surprise appearance during Playboi Carti’s performance of “Long Time” in Los Angeles.

On the film front, Rocky has enjoyed success with his role in the indie film If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, featuring Rose Byrne and Conan O’Brien, as well as Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, where he starred alongside Denzel Washington.
