Chris Metcalfe: From Glass Collector to Global DJ

At the age of 15, Chris Metcalfe found himself immersed in the heart of the UK’s club scene, observing the influential figures of electronic music who would later inspire his career.

Early Beginnings

Chris Metcalfe’s journey into music began in an unexpected place: the end of the night. Starting as a glass collector at one of the UK’s largest clubs, he was surrounded by renowned DJs like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Tiësto, and Mauro Picotto. This exposure to iconic performances helped him understand the dynamics of music and crowd engagement.

His early experiences opened doors for him to become a resident DJ at the same venue, where he progressed from warm-up slots to headlining performances. A significant milestone was his first major closing set following deadmau5, marking his transition from spectator to performer.

International Success

Metcalfe’s career has since expanded globally, with South America, especially Argentina, being a standout region where he headlined three sold-out shows. Japan left a lasting impact, and he continues to enjoy enthusiastic audiences in Holland and Australia. For Metcalfe, touring remains a cherished opportunity.

Studio Achievements

In the studio, Metcalfe’s productivity has been impressive. Over the past year, he released seven tracks, many reaching Beatport’s Top 10. His music has received support from BBC Radio 1, SiriusXM, and prominent DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, and Aly & Fila. His relationship with Armin van Buuren’s Armada label began in 2009 with his debut track “First Encounter.”
