Dolly Parton reassured her fans this Thanksgiving weekend with a video message, dispelling concerns regarding her health amid ongoing rumors of illness.
In her Thanksgiving message, Parton expressed her gratitude, stating, “I want to wish all of you and your family blessings this Thanksgivin’.”
She continued, “I am so thankful for all of you and for the memories we’ve shared over the years. So, happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and just know that I will always love you.”
This final sentiment referenced her iconic 1974 song “I Will Always Love You,” which gained renewed fame through Whitney Houston’s cover in 1992.
In early October, following a request from one of her sisters for fans to pray for her, Parton humorously assured her supporters, “I ain’t dead yet!”
While filming commercials for the Grand Ole Opry, she addressed health concerns, saying, “I know lately everybody thinks I’m sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here. Anyway, I wanted to put everybody’s minds at ease.”
Parton expressed her appreciation for the prayers she has received, stating, “I am a person of faith, and I can always use the prayers for anything and everything… but I want you to know that I’m okay. I’ve got some problems, as I’ve mentioned.”
She elaborated on her health issues, sharing, “Back when my husband Carl was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself… So, when I got around to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this, we need to take care of that.’ Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt where I’m having some treatments here and there, but I want you to know I’m not dying.”
