President Trump Comments on Rob Reiner’s Death
Update — December 15, 2025, 4:52 p.m. ET: President Donald Trump has reiterated his previous criticisms of director Rob Reiner following Reiner’s murder on December 14.
During a press briefing on December 15, Trump, 79, responded to a journalist’s inquiry about his earlier remarks on Reiner, which had been condemned by several Republican officials.

Trump further commented that he considered Reiner “bad for our country” due to the director’s outspoken criticism of the administration.
Reiner’s Tragic Death
President Donald Trump addressed the deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, claiming to know the reason behind the tragedy.
On December 15, hours after the couple was discovered deceased in their Los Angeles home, Trump, 79, posted on his Truth Social platform.
“A very sad event occurred in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, once a talented director and comedy star, passed away alongside his wife, Michele. Reports suggest it was due to the anger he incited through his unyielding affliction with a condition known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,” Trump wrote.
He added, “He was known for driving people CRAZY with his obsession with President Donald J. Trump, reaching new levels of paranoia as the Trump Administration achieved greatness. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
Investigation and Family Statement
As previously reported, Rob and Michele Reiner were found in their residence on December 14. “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” a family spokesperson stated. “We are devastated by this sudden loss and request privacy during this difficult time.”
According to TMZ, the couple “suffered lacerations consistent with a knife,” and the Los Angeles Police Department is conducting an investigation.

Their son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested by LAPD and is in custody on murder charges. Nick has battled drug addiction for years and spoke to People in 2016 about his experiences with homelessness.
“I was homeless in Maine, New Jersey, and Texas,” Nick, 32, said. “I spent nights and weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
“I met incredible people there, so out of my element. Now, I’ve been home for a long time and have readjusted to being in L.A. and around my family. But there were many dark years,” Nick shared with the outlet.
