Emma Mackey attended the Ella McCay London special screening at Picturehouse Central this evening, and honestly, I was surprised.
The French actress is a staunch minimalist — rarely a silhouette that veers into “conceptual” territory — which is exactly why this Loewe Spring 2026 look caught me off guard.
The black blazer, sheer tights and black pumps absolutely track for her. That part feels like classic Emma. It’s the leather asymmetrical skirt — that structured, sculptural flap of fabric — where the surprise really kicks in.
Her stylist Karla Welchstripped back the sporty runway styling to create something that aligns more closely with Emma’s sensibility. We can all picture Karla’s other client Tessa Thompson wearing the full look, visor included. But even in this edited form, Emma isn’t entirely selling that skirt to me.
It sits at odds with her usual style personality, almost like she’s switching up her fashion narrative. With Claire Foy switching to Jonathan Huguet and Jessie Buckley working with Danielle Goldberg, we’ve seen a wave of actresses stepping out of their established lanes.
So perhaps Emma is dipping a toe outside her norm — testing the waters.
What do you think: does she make this work for you?
Stylist: Karla Welch.
