2026 Golden Globe Awards Nominations Announced
The nominations for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards have been revealed, celebrating the top talent in the entertainment industry. HBO’s “The White Lotus” leads with six nominations, including several acting nods and a nomination for Best Drama Series. The latest season, set in Thailand, continues to garner significant attention.
Streaming Platforms and New Categories
Netflix’s “Adolescence” follows closely with five nominations. Both “Only Murders in the Building” and “Severance” each received four nominations. This year’s nominations highlight the Golden Globes’ adaptation to evolving audience preferences, with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) including new categories for stand-up comedy specials and podcasts.
Industry Context and Distribution Leaders
The entertainment industry faces challenges such as streaming service contractions and studio cost-cutting, while also navigating an unpredictable box office. Netflix, after acquiring Warner Bros. and HBO, leads the pack with 35 nominations, while these acquired entities collectively earned 31 nominations.
Film Nominations
“One Battle After Another” stands out on the film front with nine nominations, making it the most recognized film of the year. The film, a sharp sociopolitical satire, received nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, along with recognition for Paul Thomas Anderson’s direction and screenplay, Jonny Greenwood’s score, and performances by Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Teyana Taylor.
“Sentimental Value” and “Sinners” also performed well, with eight and seven nominations, respectively, competing in categories across drama, acting, and craft.
