Ruth Codd Announces Second Below-Knee Amputation on TikTok
Ruth Codd, known for her role in Celebrity Traitors, has informed her followers that she has undergone a second below-knee amputation.
The Irish actress previously had her right leg amputated below the knee at the age of 23 due to a football injury sustained at 15, which led to chronic pain and multiple surgeries. She has now had the same procedure performed on her left leg.
Codd gained popularity on TikTok by sharing content about her disability and various topics, which led to her casting in Netflix series such as The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, despite her lack of prior acting experience.
In a recent TikTok video filmed at her family home, the 29-year-old shared the news of her second procedure. With her characteristic humor, she stated, “Hi guys. So, I have some good news and some bad news.”

Using the TikTok handle ‘ruthcoddsnotdead’, she elaborated: “Good news – we’ve had a full circle moment. I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house,” according to reports from the Mirror.
“Bad news – I can’t do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper anymore because that room is upstairs. I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation, so unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the moment. There’s a lot to unpack there for everyone involved.”
While she did not disclose the reasons for the second surgery, Ruth showcased her new wheelchair, which she humorously named ‘Fat Tony’, joking, “She has the top speed of f*** all, especially if there’s a step involved.”
Fans quickly reacted, appreciating Ruth’s signature wit. One commenter quipped, “But I was only here for the floral wallpaper!” Another remarked, “Look babes, we all want a second season of Midnight Club – but taking the second leg is a bit far,” to which Ruth replied, “@netflix you see what I mean?”.

This prompted Ruth to quip, “How do I block someone twice?”.
Some viewers expressed confusion after watching the video without audio, as TikTok’s subtitles suggested she mentioned a “second bologna amputation” instead of “below-knee amputation.”
One TikTok user asked, “Is this a joke?” while another clarified, “She’s saying ‘below-knee amputation,’ not ‘bologna knee amputation.’ Bologna is a city in Italy.”
A third user humorously remarked, “A bologna amputation is no laughing matter.”
Another contributed, “Ruth, you gotta tell us which Paralympic event you’re participating in so we can tune in.”
She cleverly replied, “Rhythmic gymnastics,” adding, “Guys, stop being nice to me; it’s weirding me out.”
Recently, Ruth participated in Celebrity Traitors as a Faithful. Despite her popularity among viewers, she was the third contestant to be eliminated after being ‘killed’ by Traitors Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, and Cat Burns in episode four.
