On Thursday, downtown Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater was the venue for the Game Awards, drawing a large crowd of gaming enthusiasts and Hollywood celebrities. This annual event, often referred to as the “Oscars of gaming,” celebrates the top achievements in the video game industry.
Unlike the Academy Awards, the Game Awards is a lively affair, bringing together industry leaders and passionate fans who trade their gaming gear for formal wear.
The event also attracted major Hollywood figures, reflecting the growing intersection of technology and entertainment, with adaptations like “The Last of Us” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
The cast of Paramount’s upcoming “Street Fighter” movie, one of the highest-grossing game franchises, appeared to excite the audience.
Noah Centineo, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, and Jason Momoa received enthusiastic applause as they previewed their roles in the action-packed 2026 film.
Momoa, a self-proclaimed “Street Fighter” fan, humorously claimed he insisted on being cast as Blanka, a character known for his green skin.
Later, Gemma Chan introduced Lenny Kravitz as the antagonist in her upcoming game, “007: First Light.”
Kravitz, dressed as his character Bawma, described him as a “wild, unpredictable ruler” of a major black market hub.
David Harbour, known for “Stranger Things,” expressed his enthusiasm for tabletop gaming while introducing a new “Total War” game.
Miss Piggy, the iconic Muppet, charmed the audience with her appearances alongside host Geoff Keighley, including a musical performance.
Other notable attendees included Jeffrey Wright, Rahul Kohli, J.J. Abrams, Mila Jovovich, and Evanescence, who performed “Afterlife.”
“Clair Obscur: Expedition 33,” led by Charlie Cox, dominated with 13 nominations and won nine awards, including Game of the Year.
