Meghan Markle's team sent 'aggressive' messages over journalist's hospital visits with Thomas: report

Journalist Criticized by Meghan Markle’s Team for Hospital Visit

Caroline Graham, a reporter for the Daily Mail, has revealed that Meghan Markle’s representatives sent her “unnecessarily aggressive” messages while she was at Thomas Markle’s hospital bedside.

Longstanding Friendship

In an article published on Saturday, Graham detailed her friendship with Thomas Markle, which began when she interviewed him about his strained relationship with Meghan in 2018, shortly after her marriage to Prince Harry. Graham emphasized that she has always written stories with Thomas’s consent and that he wanted to share his story with The Mail on Sunday to manage the narrative about his amputation.

Hospital Visit and Communication Attempts

Graham recounted that Thomas Markle Jr. urged her to travel to the Philippines to be with his father, who was facing a life-threatening condition due to a blood clot. During her stay, Graham attempted to facilitate communication between Thomas and Meghan’s PR team, who claimed they had been trying to locate him. However, Graham noted that the email address the team used was outdated.

Ethical Concerns and Personal Decisions

Graham defended her actions, stating her stories were written with Thomas’s approval and that anything he shared was considered off the record unless specified otherwise. She expressed willingness to end her friendship with Thomas if it would help him reconcile with Meghan, acknowledging the complications of maintaining a friendship with a media figure.

Meghan’s Team Responds

Meghan’s representatives criticized Graham for “breaching clear ethical boundaries” by remaining at Thomas’s side and broadcasting interactions. They confirmed Meghan sent a letter to her father, which Graham witnessed being delivered but did not investigate further.

Defense from DMG Media

DMG media supported Graham, denying any ethical breaches in her relationship with Thomas Markle. They maintained that her presence and reporting were conducted with integrity and respect for Thomas’s wishes.
