The iconic Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana, first captivated audiences nearly two decades ago. Premiering on March 24, 2006, it turned Miley Cyrus into a global sensation as she portrayed Miley Stewart, a teenager living a secret life as pop star Hannah Montana.

Miley was just 12 when she took on the role, and now, almost 20 years later, she and her fellow cast members have grown and evolved beyond their Disney roots. Reflecting on her journey, Miley released the heartfelt single “Used To Be Young” in 2023, reminiscing about her past with sincerity.

As the 20th anniversary of the show approaches in 2026, Miley addressed speculation about a reboot. Speaking to Billboard, she expressed skepticism about a traditional revival, noting, “this is the only Hannah,” but hinted at plans to celebrate the occasion.

At 33, Miley is engaged to musician Maxx Morando and remains a powerful figure in the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, Hannah Montana continues to enchant fans, with all episodes available on Disney+. Here’s what the cast is up to now.

Miley Cyrus rose to fame as the star of Hannah Montana in 2006. The series, which ran for four seasons, concluded in 2011, and Miley also starred in the 2009 film, Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Following her Disney departure, Miley achieved significant success in music with albums such as Bangerz, Plastic Hearts, and Endless Summer Vacation. Her hits include “The Climb,” “Party in the U.S.A.,” “Wrecking Ball,” and “Flowers.” In August 2023, she released “Used to Be Young,” a reflective track on her past. Her 2025 visual album Something Beautiful received critical acclaim.

Miley has also pursued acting, appearing in The Last Song (2010), where she met Liam Hemsworth, and an episode of Black Mirror in 2019. She served as a coach on The Voice for two seasons.

Her personal life has been widely covered, including her relationship with Liam Hemsworth, whom she married in 2018 and divorced in 2020. She has also been linked to Patrick Schwarzenegger, Stella Maxwell, and Cody Simpson, and publicly identified as pansexual in 2015.

Currently, Miley is engaged to musician Maxx Morando, whom she began dating in 2021.

Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley’s real-life father, played her on-screen dad, Robby Ray Stewart, on Hannah Montana. He was a key figure throughout the show’s run from 2006 to 2011. During this time, he also competed on Dancing With the Stars, finishing fifth in season four. After Hannah Montana, he released five studio albums and starred in the CMT sitcom Still the King (2016–2017).

His career revived in 2019 with his feature on Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” remix, achieving a 14× platinum certification by 2021.

In 2020, Billy Ray hinted at a Hannah Montana prequel focused on Robby Ray, expressing interest in reprising his role. Although the prequel didn’t materialize, interest in the show remains strong as its 20th anniversary nears.

Personally, Billy Ray married Australian singer Firerose in 2023, but they divorced in 2025 after a brief marriage.

Emily Osment

Emily Osment portrayed Lilly Truscott, Miley Stewart’s best friend, on Hannah Montana and appeared in Hannah Montana: The Movie. After the series, she pursued a diverse acting career in film and television.

Her early work included family films like The Haunting Hour: Don’t Think About It, Dadnapped, Cyberbully, and Christmas Wonderland. She starred in the Freeform sitcom Young & Hungry (2014–2018) and the Fox drama Almost Family.

Emily has had recurring roles in acclaimed series like The Kominsky Method and Mom, and voiced a character in the Netflix animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park.

Mitchel Musso

Mitchel Musso played Oliver Oken, a close friend of Miley Stewart on Hannah Montana. He also voiced Jeremy Johnson on Phineas and Ferb and reprised the role in the 2020 film Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. Musso starred in the Disney XD series Pair of Kings and hosted PrankStars. His music career includes a self-titled debut album released in 2009.

After his Disney years, Musso stepped back from the limelight but continued voice work and low-profile acting roles. In 2011, he faced legal issues related to drunken driving, leading to probation and mandatory education courses. He expressed gratitude to his family and fans for their support during this time.

Musso returned to the spotlight in August 2023 following an arrest in Texas. The charges were later dismissed, and Musso expressed his commitment to sobriety.

Jason Earles

Jason Earles was known for his comedic role as Jackson Stewart, Miley Stewart’s brother, on Hannah Montana. After the series ended in 2011, he starred in Kickin’ It on Disney XD, which became a popular show.

Earles has continued acting with guest roles on various TV projects, including Just Roll With It. He has appeared in WTH: Welcome to Howler, Mood Swings, and Hotel Du Loone.

In his personal life, Jason was married to Jennifer Earles until 2013 and later married Katie Drysen in 2017. He is involved in mentoring young actors and working with theater programs.

Moisés Arias

Moisés Arias portrayed Rico on Hannah Montana. After the series, he gained recognition in films like The Kings of Summer and appeared in Despicable Me 2, Ender’s Game, Pitch Perfect 3, and Five Feet Apart. His recent roles include appearances in The King of Staten Island, Samaritan, and American Murderer.
