RHOSLC Star Mary Cosby’s Son Robert’s Wife Files for Divorce

Following his recent arrest for allegedly breaching a restraining order, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., is facing a divorce. His wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff, submitted divorce papers to the Salt Lake County District Court in Utah on Monday, November 24, as reported by multiple sources.

The divorce filing includes a stipulation that both parties must refrain from “harassing, intimidating, or disturbing the peace of the other party, by any means, including electronically.” Additional restrictions outlined in the paperwork prohibit either party from engaging in domestic violence, using the other’s name or likeness for financial gain, or interfering with services utilized by the other party.

This legal action follows Robert Jr.’s arrest earlier this month, where he was charged with violating a pretrial protective order, classified as a Class A misdemeanor in Utah.

In addition to the protective order violation, Robert Jr. faces charges related to property damage, assault on a law enforcement officer, failing to stop when commanded by police, interfering with a peace officer, and criminal trespassing. Reports confirm that he is currently incarcerated at the Salt Lake County Jail.

In a statement before Robert’s scheduled hearing on Tuesday, November 25, his attorney noted, “Today Robert Cosby took responsibility for the mistakes he has made and the pain he has caused his ex-wife and her family. Robert was slow to recognize that his marriage was over. He continued to make contact with his ex-wife in an effort to reconcile. He now realizes that the relationship is over and he must move on.”

Robert Jr. had previously been arrested after police responded to a domestic violence report in September, where he was accused of attempting to break into his father-in-law’s residence and allegedly assaulting an individual. He faced charges including criminal trespassing, assault, failure to stop when commanded by law enforcement, and three counts of violating a court order.

Viewers of RHOSLC have witnessed Mary’s efforts to support her son during his struggles with substance abuse. In a recent cover story for Us Weekly, Mary expressed her shock upon learning about Robert Jr.’s challenges, stating, “I immediately started blaming myself, because I thought, ‘You can’t judge him and his life and his choices.’”

She further elaborated, “I don’t believe in judging people. I’m just not a judger. I don’t like judging people, and I don’t like to do it. … If he’s opening up enough to tell me something this crucial, then why would I judge? I have no choice but to sit there and receive it and accept it and hope that I can help him.”

Mary acknowledged that her son has faced recent setbacks in his recovery but expressed hope for his well-being, stating, “I can honestly sit here and say he’s doing very good.”
