Masters Acquisition
In March, Swift concluded a nearly six-year-long dispute by reclaiming her masters from Shamrock Capital. The private equity firm had acquired them from Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings in 2020, following Braun’s purchase of Big Machine Records in 2019.
Swift expressed her joy on her website, stating, “This is my greatest dream come true. To my fans, you know how important this has been to me. Your support for my re-recorded albums, Taylor’s Version, and the success of The Eras Tour enabled me to buy back my music.”
New Album Announcement
After a quiet summer, Swift made headlines in August by appearing on her then-boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast with his brother Jason. She announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, set to release in October.
Engagement News
On August 26, Swift shared her engagement news on Instagram, captioning, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” She later revealed on The Graham Norton Show that Kelce proposed on the same day they recorded New Heights.
Record-Breaking Album
In October, The Life of a Showgirl set a modern-day record for album units sold in its first week, topping the Billboard 200 for eight non-consecutive weeks and securing the No. 1 spot on the 2025 year-end chart. Its lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” dominated the Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks.
