Dylan Efron shares a close relationship with his elder brother, Zac Efron.
David Efron and Starla Baskett welcomed Zac in 1987 and Dylan in 1992. The couple separated in 2016, and David later married Jenny. Together, they have a daughter, Olivia, and a son, Henry.
During their childhood, Dylan and Zac often clashed due to their age gap. However, their bond strengthened as they matured.
“After I graduated college, Zac really supported me by letting me stay with him in Los Angeles,” Dylan shared in a January 2021 interview with BroBible. “That’s when our brotherly relationship truly blossomed.”
Zac has consistently supported Dylan’s ventures, including his participation in season 34 of Dancing With the Stars in 2025.
“It means everything. I grew up watching him do stuff like this,” Dylan told Entertainment Tonight in November 2025 after Zac surprised him at the DWTS ballroom.
Childhood Rivalry
In January 2021, Dylan reflected on their childhood, describing how they often fought due to their differences.
“I was always big for my age, and Zac was smaller. We were constantly at odds,” Dylan recalled to BroBible. “But as we grew older, our relationship evolved, especially after I moved in with him in Los Angeles.”
Zac’s Influence on Dylan

Dylan shared how Zac’s example as a big brother inspired him in his relationship with younger siblings Olivia and Henry.
“I think back to how Zac was with me, and I want to be that for them,” Dylan told Us Weekly in September 2023.
Collaborative Ventures
After working as a producer on Zac’s Netflix series, Down to Earth, Dylan expressed his enjoyment in collaborating with his brother.
“Working with family is comforting,” he stated to Us in September 2023. “But it’s also important to have our own projects. I wasn’t always ready for the spotlight like Zac.”
Embracing His Identity
In February 2025, Dylan expressed no concern about being known as “Zac’s little brother.”
“I’m proud of him, and it’s been beneficial for my career,” he told Cosmopolitan.
Honoring Zac on ‘DWTS’

On “Dedication Night” of DWTS, Dylan and Daniella Karagach danced to “Rewrite the Stars” from The Greatest Showman, originally performed by Zac and Zendaya.
Dylan explained that the choice was a tribute to Zac, who has always supported him.
“Zac’s always been there for me, and I want to be the same for Olivia,” Dylan said. “His support means the world.”
Support on ‘DWTS’
When Zac appeared in the DWTS audience in November 2025, Dylan expressed his gratitude.
“It means everything. Seeing my family and Zac there is my support,” Dylan told Entertainment Tonight.
